Should the Safe Drain® be kept open or closed? One rule of thumb, if it's raining make sure that the Safe Drain™ is open. Different environments and different applications may vary in the way the Safe Drain® is utilized. Many customers keep their Safe Drain® normally closed, opening it only for rain events. Others will keep their Safe Drains™ normally open if they are located in areas that the customer considers to be "low risk." Should there be a transfer operation of a hazardous material taking place near a Safe Drain then the valve is always kept closed until that operation has been completed. The quick open and close feature of the Safe Drain® is convenient in either scenario. |
